Q&A

Q. Why would I create a sports resume?
A. To increase your exposure to schools and teams in an easy and creative way. Include or omit any information in your resume. You are in control of it. Create something that will represent you as an athlete and student to help you attain your goals.

Q. What do I do with my resume after it is completed?
A. Increase your exposure as an athlete by sending it to coaches and scouts. We suggest you contact coaches by phone first, then copy your web address and paste it in an email to the recipient. We also suggest not sending bulk emails, as it may be interpreted as spam. Of course you can do anything you want with your resume. Show it off to your friends and family!

Q. How do I update my resume?
A. On the main page there is a place just to the left to log in. Once you have entered your ID (email address) and password you will be automatically directed to your questionnaire. Update whatever information you like. Hit the submit button and you have now updated your resume (be sure "save this for later" is not selected). You may update or change your resume as many times as you like. We suggest you update stats regularly to keep your resume up to date.

Q. Who will have access to view my resume?
A. Everyone will have access to view your resume. Don't mistake the resume for the questionnaire. We will never charge or require anyone to sign up to view resumes on SportsResumesForum.

Q. There are so many questions, what if I don't have time to complete the questionnaire?
A. If you only have time to fill out part of your resume and don't want publish it for viewing, hit the "save this for later" button at the bottom of your questionnaire. This will save your information but not allow it to be viewed. Next time you log on you will be automatically directed to your questionnaire. Resume filling out the information, and if you are ready to go live, deselect "save this for later" and submit. Now your resume is visible on the site.

Q. If I "save for later" but don't come back soon to edit again and make it live, how long will it be saved?
A. If we find resumes sitting unseen and idle for a long period of time, we will email you to warn you, and if we get no response from you we will consider deleting the resume. Please don't start a resume that you don't intend to finish.

Q. Do I have to answer all the questions?
A. No. Both the question and answer will not show up on the resume for any questions you do not answer.

Q. Can I publish more than one resume?
A. Yes. For athletes competitive in more than one sport you may want to complete more than one resume eg: football and baseball. However, your ID is your email address, and you can only have one resume per email address. You may need to create a different email address for each new resume you create.

Q. What if I have additional questions?
A. email don@sportsresumes.org

Q. What's the deal with the percentage bar in the search results page?
A. This correlates to how much information in the questionnaire has been filled out. We have established a set minimum of answers and statistics filled out to qualify as 100%. Any questionnaire filled out to this amount or more will display as 100%. This is helpful particularly for coaches and scouts to have some idea of how much information is contained in the resume before they look at it.

Q. Do you have any tips for creating my resume?
A. The best thing to do is fill it out as completely and succinctly as possible. Answers which are creative and to the point will take you farther than rambling ones. Padding your answers with extra words will not help increase the completeness meter. At the bottom of the questionnaire select "save this resume for later". Then submit. Then hit "view your resume", this will let you preview your resume. Notice how the questions are formatted now as headlines or subjects. Also, notice the format of the answers and how they look on the page. Go to the top of the page and hit "Edit your resume". If you are satisfied with how your resume looks, deselect "save this resume for later" and hit submit. If you want to make changes to the questionnaire, repeat the process of adding content and submitting it. Go ahead and play with your answers until you are satisfied with how your resume looks. You may want to do a search for your resume from the home page.

Q. If I am viewing a resume, how do I get back to the home page?
A. Click on the SportsResumesForum logo or the sportsresumes.org address at the top of the page.
